On the last Sunday of our vacation we decided to drive from Edinburgh,
where we were staying, to the other side of Glasgow to Dunoon.
Dunoon is on an peninsula about a 20 minute ferry ride from Gourock
(N:55°57.649 / W:04°48.894). |
 |
Being on the water over here is awesome! The land is so
beautiful & green, coupled with the water, which I already have a love
affair with, is incredible |
 |
Dunoon (N:55°56.913 / W:04°55.453) is a
small coastal town which home to Dunoon Pottery. Tiffany has
fallen in love with a line from Dunoon called "Funky Farm" so we came
here to hit a local store that says it's open on Sunday and carries the
full Dunoon line. |
 |
This is a veterans memorial near the harbor in Dunoon. The
shop is only a couple hundred yards from the harbor so we're just going
to hoof it through the town center and look in the shops and try to
contribute to the local economy. |
 |
The shop was closed so we stopped in a shop across the street where
we met the proprietor who wasn't from the area originally and explained
the the more laid-back non-business-focus of life in the small Scottish
town. Anyway, we had lunch in the restaurant of the Dunoon Hotel
where we were waited on by a young Polish waitress named Eva. We
had a window seat to appreciate open-air church services in what
appeared to be the center of town. We ate and sang along with
familiar hymns. |
 |
A bit disappointed by the shop being closed, we head back as it
starts to cool off. Even if we didn't buy the Funky Farm, we still
had a good time and enjoyed our time in Dunoon. |
 |
Shannon was having a grand old time on the way back. That
night we ate at a small Italian restaurant named Sambuca
(N:55°56.224 / W:03°10.904) within walking
distance of our B&B in Edinburgh. It had very good food at a
reasonable price. I recommend the gnocchi. |
