Robert the Bruce, the King of Scotland who re-freed the Scots.  This statue is outside the gates of Stirling Castle (N:56°07.387 / W:03°56.810).
The whole family teetering on the brink of the castle walls.
The gates of Stirling Castle.  The castle is an imposing fortress set high on a hill with incredible views in all directions.
The royal palace within the castle.
Some garden, huh?  In the back ground in the royal hunting grounds as well.  It's good to be the king...
The William Wallace monument can be seen on the distance.
As warfare progressed, they would add successive layers of defense.  From a basic castle, more room was added for a military garrison, then a couple layers of defensive cannon batteries were added.
The inner courtyard of the original castle.
The Kings old building.  On the wall above the door on the right is an engraving commemorating the defense of the castle by William Oliphant and a garrison of 140 men against the English army under Edward I in 1304.
This is the church built for the baptism of Prince Henry in 1594.
These are beautiful reproduction tapestries hanging in the Chapel Royal.
I took this picture because of our association with Boy Scouts.  This is the Boy Scout building in Stirling.  It doesn't have as much land as our scout hut, but it sure looks cool.
Saturday night, after getting back to Edinburgh, we ate at Howie's Waterloo Place.  Great food & atmosphere and the best service that we received during our vacation in the UK.  The staff was knowledgeable and helped us through some scotch tasting.  I determined that I like Talisker.  Tiffany determined that she doesn't like scotch.
