Look! A statue of Mel Gibson! Oops.... William Wallace. |

During our last trip we went to Stirling Castle and could see the Wallace monument but we didn't go. This time we went, but they were having electrical problems and we could only go to the gift shop and tea room. So we clicked a few pictures and had a cup of tea. I was surprised to learn that they have Wallace's sword on display (although we didn't get to see it). The thing is almost six feet long! |

There are beautiful views of Stirling from the monument. |

After the Wallace Monument, we took off for Callendar to get Patrick a kilt, then to the Scottish Wool Center in Aberfoyle, and eventually to get back to Glasgow. On the way we stopped to eat at the Woodside Hotel. Good service and conversation and it might just become a destination for our next trip. |

This is where we stopped in Callendar to get Patrick's kilt. Tiffany & I also wound up getting new celtic knot rings. |

I really liked the town. The proprietor of the shop gave us "short-cut" directions that we were to doubt at times, but they took us through some truly awesome country. |

The new directions we got in Callendar took us on a back road through the Trossachs, which I saw described as the highlands in miniature. |

The route took us along the banks of two or three difference Lochs including this one, Loch Venachar. |

They were beautiful and I couldn't keep myself from lollagagging. |

We finally arrived at the wool center and did some shopping. They also do border collie training, but the dogs had already been put away by the time we got there. |

Aberfoyle is a fun little town tucked away in the hills. We were talking to a clerk in the information center about where we could get a good steak and a salesman from one of the centers' suppliers had us follow him all the way to Glasgow - and it's a good thing too, we would have never found the place on our own. |
| Click Here | All the way along the back roads, Shannon had to say good bye to the sheep & cows. |
| Click Here | At one point, Patrick joined in and thanked the sheep for the wool for his kilt. This prompted Shannon to start thanking the sheep for her new dress. |

It turned out that the place that was recommended didn't do steak. Since we were in central Glasgow, we went looking on foot and found this place a block away. It's called "Noah" and had excellent food & service - two thumbs way up! And they also had Aberdeen Angus beef - the reason we wanted a steak. Aberdeen Angus is arguably the best there is. |
